TITLE: Loan Officer – Wagner Location

SUPERVISED BY: VP of Operations

STATUS: Full-time

PURPOSE: Responsible for interviewing applicants for loans and processing various loan applications. Gathers background information and analyzed loan applicant’s credit history. Approves or denies loan applications based on analysis. Operate with moderate credit authority.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Represent the credit union to the members in a courteous and professional manner and provide prompt, efficient and accurate service in the processing of transactions.

2. Continuously and effectively cross selling our services and financial products. Maintaining an effective working knowledge of our lending and savings products, helping members determine the suitability of these products for their needs.

3. Responsible for the consumer and mortgage loans.

4. Providing basic lending services to members, including the quotation of loan rates and payment options.

5. Mail loan applications and/or information to members and prospective members.

6. Assist members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information.

7. Gather background information on loan applicants by interviewing loan applicant.

8. Pull credit reports for accounts verify debts, and estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add them to debts on application.

9. Determine collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for loans.

10. Determine eligibility of loan co-maker from co-maker’s statement and credit rating.

11. Approve loan applications. If they do not fall within policy, send them to credit committee

12. Explain reasons for denial, explore options for members when loans are denied and send an adverse action form to the member.

13. Verify the accuracy of loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications.

14. Complete loan documents and give them to the members for signatures.

15. Explain Credit Insurance Products that the credit union offers on each and every loan to ensure we helping the member be properly covered. This includes GAP, MCR, Credit Disability, and Credit Life Insurance. File claims for members on these products as needed.

16. Maintain transfer, periodic, ACH and payroll deduction payments on loan accounts.

17. Clean up exception loan reports on a regular basis to ensure payments are being processed correctly.

18. Clean up loan files in Laserfiche if closed.

19. Maintain insurance and title information is up to date and accurate. Make phone calls to collect title and insurance on outstanding loans. This includes filing UCC’s.

20. Release title work to appropriate address in a timely manner.

21. File legal recordings of mortgages and satisfactions.

22. Monitor loan accounts for delinquency. Follow up on delinquent loans by phone and mail to determine the reasons for delinquency and assist the member in developing plans to bring accounts to a current status. Document correspondence in the collection system. Ensure professional interface with members.

23. Ensure that your workstation is properly stocked with forms and supplies. Make sure your workstation is clean of empty soda cans, food wrappers and papers are disposed of properly – shredded.

24. Comply with BSA/AML and other credit union policies and procedures.

25. Report malfunctions of equipment used to the supervisor.

26. Backup credit union personal as assigned by management.

27. Performing other duties as directed by the President or VP of Operations.

Agriculture Loan Specialist 

The Agriculture Loan Specialist (ALS) is responsible for delivering financial and Credit Union education to members and the agriculture community through a variety of channels including in-person seminars, online webinars, financial reality fairs, and digital, social, and traditional media, etc.  The incumbent will be knowledgeable of agriculture practices and the financial systems that support them.   The ALS is also responsible for research, design, development and implementation of loan programs, educational content, and programs, aligned with market and business needs and objectives. The ALS is also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with appropriate community groups and leaders, the Farm bank system, as well as other leaders within the credit union.

Responsibilities

    Develop and maintain relationships with identified agriculture groups, cooperatives, organizations, schools, and internal departments to determine appropriate loan programs, financial education programs and delivery channel(s) to address and meet needs as well as credit union business objectives.

    Participate in the design, implementation and expansion of loan and educational programs and projects to meet CDFI strategic objectives.

    Primary point of contact for agriculture programs and liaison for partners in this space.

    Prepare reports for management on specific educational programs.

    Develop and deliver educational content that is relevant to target audiences and designed to improve financial health and understanding of the credit union’s financial health products and services.

    Maintain understanding of all the programs of the Farm Bank and other loan support available to the agriculture community

    Research and recommend innovative technologies and services related to optimizing financial education delivery and impact.121

    Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations that affect consumers’ capabilities to navigate financial products, services, and systems. Initiate relevant and timely educational content development and delivery to inform and support credit union members and community as necessary. 

    Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

    Extensive knowledge of agriculture community, the Farm bank systems and other financial aid available to members of this community.

    Minimum 2 years lending experience in this sector

    Bachelor’s degree in education or business or equivalent related experience required.

    Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills required.

    Ability to work independently and as a team member while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving required.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

    Proficient PC skills, with the ability to learn new software required.

    Ability to research and compile information for the purpose of developing loan program design and conducting presentations/seminars preferred.

    Ability to plan, organize, and implement projects in a timely manner required.

Native American Financial Education Liaison

The Native American Financial Education Liaison (FEL abbreviation used in this document) is responsible for delivering financial and Credit Union education to Native American members and the Native American (NA used in this document) community through a variety of channels including in-person seminars, online webinars, financial reality fairs, and digital, social, and traditional media, etc.  The incumbent will be knowledgeable of NA traditions and the economic structure of NA households.    The FEL is also responsible for research, design, development and implementation of educational content and programs, aligned with market and business needs and objectives. The FEL is also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with appropriate community groups and leaders, as well as other leaders within the credit union.

Responsibilities

    Develop and maintain relationships with identified NA groups and organizations, schools, and internal departments to determine appropriate financial education programs and delivery channel(s) to address and meet financial education needs as well as credit union business objectives.

    Participate in the design, implementation and expansion of educational programs and projects to meet CDFI strategic objectives.

    Primary point of contact for Native American programs and liaison for partners in this space.

    Prepare reports for management on specific educational programs.

    Develop educational content that is relevant to target audiences and designed to improve financial health and understanding of the credit union’s financial health products and services.

• Maintain current knowledge of financial education trends, youth and adult learning principals, educational training techniques, methods, and theories, and credit union and partners’ products and services to provide enhancements to existing programs 119 and recommend new topics, approaches, programs, and financial services offerings.

    Research and recommend innovative technologies and services related to optimizing financial education delivery and impact.

    Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations that affect consumers’ capabilities to navigate financial products, services, and systems. Initiate relevant and timely educational content development and delivery to inform and support credit union members and community as necessary.

    Bachelor’s degree in education or business or equivalent related experience required.

• Minimum 2 years of related functional experience required. Previous experience in teaching or training environment focusing on personal financial management using adult or youth learning principles required.

    Minimum 2 years of experience in financial services or comparable field required.

    Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills required.

    Experience with instructional design and content development preferred.

    Previous experience developing and delivering online presentations and social media preferred.

    Ability to work independently and as a team member while using discretion in decision making and sound judgment in problem solving required.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

    Proficient PC skills, with the ability to learn new software required.

The Community Development Financial Educator (CDFE) is responsible for delivering financial and Credit Union education to members and the community through a variety of channels including in-person seminars, online webinars, financial reality fairs, and digital, social, and traditional media, etc.  This role will have thorough knowledge of adult and youth learning principles, financial development issues related to economic needs, and consumer financial health trends, products, and services.  The CDFE is also responsible for research, design, development and implementation of educational content and programs, aligned with market and business needs and objectives. The CDFE is also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with appropriate community groups and leaders, as well as other leaders within the credit union.

Responsibilities

    Develop and maintain relationships with identified community groups and organizations,    schools and school districts, and internal departments to determine appropriate financial education programs and delivery channel(s) to address and meet member and community financial education needs as well as credit union business objectives.

    Participate in the design, implementation and expansion of educational programs and projects to meet CDFI strategic objectives.

    Prepare reports for management on specific educational programs.

    Develop educational content that is relevant to member and community target audiences and designed to improve financial health and understanding of the credit union’s financial health products and services.

    Maintain current knowledge of financial education trends, youth and adult learning 117 principals, educational training techniques, methods, and theories, and credit union and partners’ products and services to provide enhancements to existing programs and recommend new topics, approaches, programs, and financial services offerings.
